Overview
The Project Analyst - Resilient Water Supply will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a project focused on improving water access, management, and sanitation in Machubo Administrative Post, Marracuene District.
Key Responsibilities
- Support effective project planning and implementation.
- Develop Terms of Reference for contracts to engineering firms and/or NGOs.
- Formulate bidding documents and provide support throughout the tendering process.
- Provide comprehensive support in all aspects of project implementation.
- Ensure quality of delivery by consultants, beneficiaries, and contracted companies.
- Support UNDP in evaluation of proposals, contracting, and supervision of implementation.
- Ensure compliance of project business processes with UNDP Project Operational Policies and Procedures (POPP) and UNDP Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Monitor and supervise construction/maintenance works ensuring adherence to approved designs.
- Support mainstreaming gender equality in the project implementation.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support partnerships and resource mobilization.
- Ensure regular communication and coordination with partners, project counterparts, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.
- Support creation of high-quality information and visibility of the project activities.
- Undertake horizon scanning and explore opportunities for resource mobilization.
- Support the effective monitoring, reporting and evaluation on progress of project implementation.
- Collect, analyze and present information for monitoring and evaluation of project implementation.
- Implement at UNDP safeguards policy including the establishment and implementation of a grievance mechanism.
- Organize and conduct, in close collaboration with the local government entities, regular community meetings.
- Assist in the organization of field and study visits, missions, workshops, roundtables, and conferences.
- Assist in implementation of effective risk management for the project.
- Regularly monitor expenditures and commitments against the project budget and relevant plans.
- Prepare and consolidate required project reports on a timely basis.
- Support knowledge building, knowledge sharing and capacity building relevant to the assigned project.
- Provide support to other capacity building activities.
- Provide support in the dissemination and sharing of relevant data and lessons learned.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years (with Master’s degree) or 4 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of relevant work experience in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or related field and similar projects is required.
- Desired skills include: Experience/Knowledge of administrative-legal requirements and procedures for construction work in rural/community areas; Project management experience; Experience in the usage of computers and construction and architecture software packages; Experience in water supply, sanitation and renewable energy; Experience working with local communities; Experience working with UNDP or other UN agencies.
Qualifications
Advanced University Degree (Master´s Degree or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or related field is required or; A First level university degree (Bachelors’ Degree) in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or related field is required with and additional of 2 years of relevant work experience will be given due consideration in lieu of Master’s Degree.
