Overview

This internship is within the Disaster Risk Reduction Section (DRS) of the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of ESCAP. The role contributes to the analysis of disaster impacts and assists in organizing international conferences and meetings.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the quantitative and qualitative analysis on the socio-economic impacts of disasters
  • Assist in organizing international conferences and meetings
  • Carry out other ad hoc tasks as required by the Section and the Division
Required Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written. English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
The internship is UNPAID. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
