The Deputy Director, Programme, D1 role at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is responsible for advising and assisting the Director on technical and functional issues to enhance the Division's and UNEP's impact and effectiveness.
A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, administration, budget management, and internal control functions is required. This experience must include leadership responsibilities and at least ten (10) years of progressive experience managing Implementing Partners, multi-stakeholder Trust Funds, and financial and budgetary reviews. A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in leading and implementing organization-wide financial strategies is required. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience supervising and managing multidisciplinary professional teams in areas related to budget and financial management, is required.
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, social sciences, management is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable. Professional certification in any of the management disciplines is desirable.
