Overview
Develop a practical Conservation and Management Manual for human remains and artefacts at Cambodian memorial sites and conduct capacity-building workshops.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a practical manual providing guidelines for the respectful and scientifically sound management of human remains and artefacts.
- Outline documentation and recording procedures for newly discovered materials.
- Detail field recovery procedures and first aid for newly exposed human remains and artefacts.
- Address environmental management and preventive conservation.
- Define storage requirements and management, including specific conservation considerations.
- Include basic risk management and monitoring procedures.
- Provide recommendations for long-term conservation planning.
- Undertake two field missions to Cambodia for fact-finding, consultation, site visits, and training delivery.
- Design and deliver two capacity-building workshops for site managers and staff.
- Develop training materials (PowerPoints, facts sheets) for re-use.
Required Experience
- At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in heritage conservation or museum collection management.
- Demonstrated experience working with human remains and/or sensitive heritage materials, including a track record of relevant peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience developing conservation manuals or technical guidelines.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in conservation, archaeology, heritage studies, museum studies, anthropology, or a related discipline.
