Overview
Provide high-level strategic expertise in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the AHT component of the Pandemic Fund Project, focusing on strengthening pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response in South Africa through a One Health Approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical input on activity design, project implementation, reporting, and knowledge sharing, focusing on legal and regulatory compliance, facility location, infrastructure, equipment, business establishment, community liaison, and marketing.
- Lead activities to build and sustain funding opportunities and collaborative arrangements for AHT primary animal healthcare clinics.
- Lead activities to identify and engage with complementary service delivery models for AHTs in business.
- Develop a targeted coaching and training program and associated tools to monitor AHT progress.
- Participate in and contribute to workshops, webinars, and training initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance on the design of starter kit procurement.
- Provide ongoing remote and on-site technical support and progress monitoring of AHTs and their businesses.
- Lead engagement with the South African Veterinary Council and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of project implementation, communication, and knowledge sharing products.
- Perform any other tasks mutually agreed.
Required Experience
A minimum of 5 years working experience in animal health discipline.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO specialising in veterinary studies at a higher degree. Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
