Overview
The Programme Officer (READY) will support the Programme Manager in the day-to-day implementation of disaster readiness initiatives in the Marshall Islands, focusing on coordination, monitoring, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of COFA READY Component 2 activities, including programmatic, administrative, financial, and operational requirements.
- Assist in monitoring day-to-day implementation against work plans, targets, and expected results.
- Provide regular updates on project implementation, achievements, challenges, and risks.
- Support the collection, consolidation, and analysis of project information for reporting and M&E.
- Support liaison with government counterparts and other stakeholders.
- Support the preparation, review, and submission of project reports and documentation.
- Contribute to the development and adaptation of training materials and capacity-building resources.
- Support coordination with the Procurement and Logistics Unit.
- Support coordination with the Head of Engineering Unit and field engineers.
- Work closely with the Communications Officer to document project success stories and visibility materials.
- Participate in relevant meetings, workshops, and coordination forums.
- Support coordination with READY project teams in FSM and Palau for knowledge sharing.
- Undertake duty travel as required.
Required Experience
- Two years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree, or four years of relevant professional experience with a University degree.
- Experience supporting the implementation and coordination of disaster risk reduction and readiness projects, especially US-funded projects.
- Experience in programme development, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
- Experience working closely with government and community leaders.
- Familiarity with project budget monitoring.
- Proven understanding of emergency response and disaster risk reduction.
- Experience in organizing consultations, workshops, and capacity-building workshops with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Political or Social Science, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Development Studies, Law, Peace and Conflict Studies, Public Policy/Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or, University degree in the above fields.
