Overview
Engage fourteen (14) Field Engineers in Chuuk to support the implementation of reconstruction interventions across Chuuk, covering New Houses, Weno infrastructure and public buildings reconstruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of scopes of work, technical specifications, cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), work schedules, and construction drawings.
- Conduct site inspections and supervise reconstruction activities.
- Carry out damage assessments of affected structures and prepare technical recommendations.
- Monitor reconstruction activities and provide technical oversight.
- Prepare regular technical and progress reports.
- Support the coordination of reconstruction projects.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) inspections.
- Review contractor performance and provide recommendations.
- Support project completion activities.
- Maintain accurate project records.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and prepare or update technical drawings.
- Ensure compliance with IOM policies and procedures.
- Undertake duty travel throughout Chuuk State and other project locations as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- Two years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree; or four years of relevant professional experience with a University degree in practical construction or engineering field.
- Experience in the field of construction engineering and contract management.
- Experience in design, planning and implementation of civil design projects.
- Experience with working in remote, hardship and/or rustic locations for longer periods of time (1-2 weeks).
- Ability to tolerate traveling on short or long-distance boat travel (1-2 days travel) on small and medium-sized vessels.
- Experience working with a non-governmental organization and/or international organization an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or University degree in the above fields.
- Certification as a licensed professional Engineer is mandatory.
- Certification as a licensed professional Quality Control/Quality Assurance Engineer is required.
