De Wissel Centrum Molenmoes - Rizsas Volunteer opportunity: You(th) care - Rizsas


Tasks Summary

Rizsas is a project for young people, between 12 and 18 years old, who due to different circumstances, do not attend the normal school program. The goal Rizsas is to get them out of apathy again in a movement by offering different activities and giving them space to interact with others. Each volunteer or worker tries to share their interests and passions with the youngsters (gardening, music, crafts, sport, knitting, baking, cooking,...), takes care of the group (group meetings, discussions, share responsibilities) life and the environment (cleaning, take care of materials, shopping, prepare lunch,...). The daily live of Rizsas is integrated in a bigger space called Centrum Molenmoes where you find green spaces, meadows, a rope course, a garden, different activity rooms that all serve to inspire youngsters and are open to events and networking with the neighbourhood. A volunteer at Rizsas participates in group moments, organizes workshops and helps in daily life. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements The volunteer will live in a house near to the project (app 500m) together with other ESC volunteers. It is located on Centrum Molenmoes in a small village. The volunteer will have a room that can be locked with a key. Bathroom and kitchen are in common with other volunteers. Terrace and outside places are in common with another project. There is lunch to eat at work and monthly food budget to arrange their groceries for the house. The volunteer will get a bike to go to the shop, the bus or train station. A bus card is provided to travel with the bus to the city during the whole year. Training during the activity In the first month the volunteer will get some preparation about life in the project, language course, working in a team and living together with other volunteers. In September or October the volunteer will take part in an on arrival training organized by the National agency and in February again in the mid term training. During the year the project is providing some language support to learn Dutch and coaching moments for personal learning and understanding of philosophy of the work. Participant profile Have social skills to communicate, get in contact with the youngsters through his/her tasks on the project. Mature enough to deal with the youngsters, get along with non-motivated youngsters with behavior problems. Having a passion to share with the youngsters (cooking, crea, music, arts, sports, garden,...) and being creative to get youngsters involved or interested Being able to organize some work by yourself, taking initiative for own projects and activities to develop. Able to live in rural setting (nearest city Leuven is 12km), willing to use the bike or bus. Independant in living, cooking, taking care of the house Willing to learn Dutch Having organisational skills and enthousiasm to develop with a team an international summerprogram
