Tasks Summary

The Province of Padova is a local government, located in North East Italy, that owns 6 museums. The museums are centres for the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage open to the communities which reach out to citizens, young and adult people, students, and tourists. The museums of the Padova Province are operated by the Company Butterfly Arc s.r.l.. The Director Dr. Enzo Moretto, holds a PhD in entomology. Each volunteer will be involved in one museum between: Esapolis (https://www.micromegamondo.com/en/museums-and-parks/esapolis) and Butterfly House (https://www.micromegamondo.com/en/museums-and-parks/butterfly-house-and-fairy-forest), supporting the team with caring for the insects and reptiles, as well as helping during events, guided tours, cultural activities and on communication. The museums staff has focused on creating more awareness about the cultural heritage and environmental issues, attracting larger audiences, making customized products for each target. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Volunteer will live in a shared flat in Padova with other volunteers or Italian people, will stay in a single or double room and will have the use of kitchen, bathroom and the common spaces of the house. He/She will receive a monthly budget to buy the food and 5 euros/day as pocket money. They will be provided with the bus card to move in the city and the organization can help to find a bicycle to move around. Participant profile We are looking for candidates who are curious, enterprising, easy going, creative, open and friendly. The volunteer shall work in a stimulating environment with lots of interactions with visitors, scientists, entomologists, and with people of all age groups so communication skills, a sociable and gregarious nature can be a great asset. An attitude for team-work and some digital/technological skills are also a plus. The volunteers should be also interested in dealing with insects, butterflies and reptiles, and be at ease in getting in contact with them, working side by side with entomologists.
