Internship supporting the Human Rights portfolio within the Education Outreach Section, focusing on UN outreach programs and academic engagement.

Tasks Summary

• Conducting research on thematic issues related to UN Outreach Programme on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda
• Assisting in drafting, formatting and editing web content, including graphics, photographs and videos
• Assisting in drafting social media content
• Assisting in planning and organizing events
• Assisting in maintaining databases
• Conducting internet research on thematic issues related to UN's principles and mandate
• Assisting in producing, drafting, formatting, editing, and posting original web site content
• Assisting in producing social media content
• Assisting with planning and organization of lectures and events
• Providing general office support

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

• Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) OR
• Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in journalism, communication, media studies, filmmaking, international relations or related field
• Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams
• Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs
• Skills and experience in writing, social media and multimedia production are strongly desired

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Contract Duration: 4-6 months

Work Modality: in-person, hybrid, remote
