Overview
The role integrates environmental and social dimensions into AIIB's work, focusing on labor and working conditions in sustainable infrastructure development. It involves addressing these dimensions in policies, programs, and projects, and managing associated risks and impacts.
Tasks Summary
- Participate in project identification, appraisal, design, and implementation to evaluate environmental and social sustainability.
- Manage environmental and social risks and impacts for Sovereign-backed and Non-sovereign-backed Financings.
- Screen for labor and working conditions risks and impacts and support clients in managing them.
- Conduct due diligence assessments of environmental and social aspects of projects.
- Guide clients on preparing and implementing environmental and social impact assessments, management plans, and labor management plans.
- Support clients on stakeholder consultations and disclosure of assessments.
- Monitor implementation of environmental, social, and labor and working conditions aspects of projects.
- Assist clients in addressing non-compliance with environmental and social obligations.
- Review country environmental/social laws and regulations and corporate management systems.
- Support management in timely and effective complaint management.
- Contribute to AIIB’s knowledge base on labor management, child labor, forced labor, supply chain risks, and working conditions.
- Develop and conduct training on environmental and social sustainability and labor and working conditions aspects.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in E&S planning and management and/or labor and working conditions due diligence.
- Expertise in labor-supply chain issues, child labor and forced labor, preferably in the context of MDBs or other international standards.
- Experience in working on labor assessments, labor audits, and industrial relations of infrastructure projects.
- Proven application of professional expertise in planning, management and monitoring of LWC and supply chain aspects of infrastructure programs and projects.
- Demonstrated experience with the planning, preparation and implementation of project-level environmental and social assessments and related studies.
- Effective ability to participate in project development, design, conduct of feasibility studies and consultations with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in monitoring E&S and LWC aspects during implementation.
- Proven ability to work with public and/or private sector clients and financial intermediaries, and development partners.
- Experience with the development and implementation of environmental, social, labor management and supply chain strategies, policies, and procedures.
Qualification Requirements
• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in labor law, human resource management, industrial relations, social science, environmental science, engineering, planning, community development, law, or related discipline.
