Overview

Support the integration of social development dimensions into the operational work of the AIIB, addressing social dimensions of policies, programs, projects, and managing social risks and impacts.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the formulation and implementation of social development aspects of strategies, policies, programs, and projects.
  • Participate in project identification, appraisal, design, and implementation to evaluate social impact assessment.
  • Support the preparation of Social Impact Assessment Reports and Resettlement Plans.
  • Support the design, preparation, and implementation by clients of social assessments of plans and frameworks.
  • Participate in the management of social risks and impacts of investment projects.
  • Monitor E&S aspects in projects under implementation.
  • Support the development and monitoring of courses of action to resolve client compliance issues.
  • Coordinate the application of disclosure of and consultation on environmental and social assessments.
  • Support the development of AIIB’s approach toward issues such as gender, labor, and disability.
  • Coordinate the application of project-level grievance resolution mechanisms.
  • Support the development of training on social safeguard systems.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental and social planning and management.
  • Experience working for, or as a government counterpart or consultant to, a multilateral development bank (MDB), bilateral donor, consultancy or a private sector organization.
  • Proven application of professional expertise in planning and management of environmental and social aspects of infrastructure programs and projects.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
  • Experience in planning, preparation, and implementation of project-level environmental and social assessments and related studies.
  • Effective ability to participate in project development and supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring E&S aspects for projects under implementation.
  • Proven ability to work with public and/or private sector clients and financial intermediaries, and development partners.
  • Experience in working with civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations.
Qualification Requirements

• Bachelors degree in social science, environmental or natural science, engineering, planning, community development, law, or related discipline.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of language(s) of a country in which AIIB invests would be an advantage.
