Overview
The Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) role focuses on programme development, coordination, and operational assistance within FAO's mandate in the country. The position supports the transformation to efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood systems.
Tasks Summary
- Liaises with government authorities and institutions, representing FAO at interagency meetings.
- Promotes FAO's image through advocacy and communication tools.
- Coordinates collection and maintenance of country data on food, crops, livestock, forestry, and fisheries.
- Participates in producing studies and developing country-level development frameworks.
- Participates in the identification, formulation, and preparation of programme and project proposals.
- Monitors and reviews programme/project implementation, proposing corrective measures.
- Briefs, trains, and supervises lower-grade programme staff.
- Leads the Programme Unit and oversees project and programme implementation.
Experience Requirements
Experience in programme development, coordination, and operational assistance based on knowledge of local conditions, culture, language, and institutions.
