Overview
Coordinates evidence-based Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) analysis and provides substantive advice on innovative economic and SDG policies to Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams, as well as national counterparts.
Tasks Summary
- Directs research, analysis, consolidation and presentation of SDG-related data and best practices
- Leads research, analysis, and consolidation of macroeconomic, social, and environmental data to identify bottlenecks and develop integrated scenarios
- Oversees identification and analysis of issues impacting multiple SDGs and proposes 'accelerator interventions'
- Directs assessment of sustainable development trade-offs, risk factors, and early-warning indicators
- Supervises collection and analysis of data on UN country-level operations
- Manages research, development, and presentation of policy papers and knowledge-based tools
- Coordinates preparation of UN flagship reports
- Oversees monitoring of regional and global economic trends and their implications for SDGs
- Guides substantive support to RC/UNCT on SDG-related issues, including MAPS processes
- Leads identification of issues and recommendations for UNCT operations optimization
- Elicits, evaluates, and consolidates policy options from UNCT members
- Provides substantive support to RC/UNCT for national development priorities and UN system-wide coherence
- Plans and directs in-country UN Cooperation Framework interagency mechanisms
- Ensures effective engagement of counterparts, including private sector, civil society, and development partners.
Experience Requirements
Experience in economic analysis and policy advice related to sustainable development and SDGs.
