Overview
This role is responsible for managing and overseeing the implementation and monitoring of environmental and social safeguards, occupational health and safety requirements, and relevant social standards for UNOPS projects in Yemen.
Tasks Summary
- Manage and oversee the implementation and monitoring of all environmental and social (E&S) safeguards, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements, and relevant social standards.
- Ensure projects meet the requirements of the ten Environmental and Social Standards (ESSs) under the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) of the World Bank.
- Ensure projects meet the Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines (EHSG) of the World Bank Group.
- Facilitate compliance with the UNOPS Health, Safety, Social and Environmental (HSSE) system, including UNOPS’ Policy on HSSE management, and related guidelines, templates and procedures for OHS, environment and social.
Experience Requirements
- Experience in integrating environmental and social safeguards into critical infrastructure projects.
- Experience in managing and overseeing the implementation and monitoring of environmental and social safeguards, OHS requirements, and relevant social standards.
