Overview

Internship within the Macroeconomics, Finance and Governance Division (MFGD) of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). The role supports member states in accelerating economic transformation and inclusive growth.

Tasks Summary

• Research and analyze topics relating to sustainable economic development, governance, planning and poverty reduction in Africa
• Provide inputs to and edit publications, papers and other documents
• Liaise with MFGD stakeholders
• Support the organization of meetings and events
• Assist with outreach activities
• Participate in day-to-day operational tasks of the Division
• Perform administrative tasks as assigned

Qualification Requirements

Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second-level university degree or equivalent, or higher). Applicants who have graduated must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Computer literate in standard software applications. Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations. Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs. Enrolled in Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Good knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Teams.

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English.

Languages Preferred: Working knowledge of the French language.

Contract Duration: 3-6 months

Work Modality: full-time

Remuneration: UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns.
