Overview
The Programme Associate will lead the integration of environmental and social sustainability across WFP Zambia’s operations and programmes. The role is responsible for implementing the Environmental Management System and supporting the application of Environmental and Social Safeguards.
Tasks Summary
- Lead the integration of environmental and social sustainability across WFP Zambia’s operations and programmes
- Implement the Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Support the application of Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS)
- Ensure compliance with WFP and donor standards
- Identify risks
- Develop cost-effective improvement actions
- Coordinate with staff and partners
- Reduce environmental impacts
- Strengthen safeguards in programme design and delivery
- Promote a continuous cycle of sustainability improvement within WFP Zambia
- Provide operational leadership for the roll-out and mainstreaming of WFP’s Environmental and Social Sustainability Framework (ESSF) across country strategies and programmes
- Oversee day-to-day implementation of environmental and social safeguards
Experience Requirements
- Experience in implementing the Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Experience in supporting the application of Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS)
- Experience in identifying risks
- Experience in developing cost-effective improvement actions

- Experience in reducing environmental impacts
