Overview

Serve as Deputy Head of Division for Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning, contributing to strategic planning, management, and oversight of divisional activities. Provide expert leadership and input to develop strategies related to radioactive waste disposal, used fuel management, and facility decommissioning.

Tasks Summary
  • Serve as Deputy Head of Division, contributing to strategic planning, management, and oversight of divisional activities.
  • Provide expert leadership and input to develop medium- and long-term strategies related to radioactive waste disposal, used fuel management, facility decommissioning, Small Modular Reactor (SMR) back-end considerations, and advanced fuel cycle technologies.
  • Develop programmes, approaches, and analyses that support NEA member countries in applying advanced radioactive waste technologies.
  • Support the work of the Radioactive Waste Management Committee (RWMC) and the Committee on Decommissioning of Nuclear Installations and Legacy Management (CDLM).
  • Contribute to the development of practical solutions for nuclear waste management and decommissioning challenges.
  • Identify and advance opportunities for collaborative projects and cooperative actions.
  • Work closely with other NEA divisions to support cross-cutting projects, publications, and events.
  • Implement joint undertakings among interested member countries.
  • Maintain strong working relationships and coordinate relevant activities with key external organisations.
  • Represent the RWMD and the NEA at high-level international fora.
  • Provide technical and organisational support for the meetings of committees and subsidiary bodies.
  • Provide expert contributions to the drafting, review, and editing of scientific and technical reports as well as policy-relevant documents.
  • Organise scientific workshops and conferences.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Division, RWMD.
Experience Requirements

At least eight years of experience in the nuclear sector. Experience in radioactive waste management, nuclear decommissioning and nuclear legacy would be an asset. Experience in international co-operation and work with or in international organisations is also desirable. Proven national level and international experience interacting with senior officials and experts from governmental organisations, regulatory authorities and research institutions. Proven experience in leading a team of diverse experts. Strong project management skills and ability to manage simultaneously several programme of works with strict deadlines and within budget.

Qualification Requirements

Advanced university degree or equivalent experience, with specialisation in a relevant technical field such as nuclear engineering, engineering, physics, chemistry, or geology.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: 36 months fixed-term appointment.

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Monthly salary starts at 10 937.92 EUR, plus allowances based on eligibility, exempt of French income tax.
