Overview

This internship provides hands-on experience in talent development within the Office of Human Resources. The intern will support various HR initiatives and gain exposure to administrative, communication, research, and talent management functions.


Tasks Summary
  • Assist in designing, updating, and maintaining internal records, databases, and SharePoint files.
  • Prepare team presentations, reports, and communications using Office 365 apps or Power BI.
  • Assist in planning and disseminating communication products.
  • Draft written materials for online engagement and maintain web/social media content.
  • Design or edit visuals aligning with United Nations branding guidelines.
  • Conduct research on HR-related policies, best practices, and data trends.
  • Collect and analyze data for internal reports and reviews.
  • Help design, develop, and implement learning and development initiatives and training materials.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support briefings and learning events.
  • Participate in outreach efforts to engage talent communities.
  • Support implementation of UN strategies and policies for staff well-being and engagement.

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.


Qualification Requirements
  • Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • OR enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Educational background or exposure to human resources, psychology, education, public administration or related issues is desirable.
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel.
  • Ability to use content authoring software, synchronous learning tools, learning platforms, data analytic tools, and media design software is desirable.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 3 -6 months

Work Modality: in-person and full-time

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
