Overview

Support the identification and planning of activities, projects, and best practices aimed at embedding environmental management in supply chain operations. Provide technical and coordination support in the implementation of environmental initiatives/projects.


Tasks Summary
  • Support identification and planning of environmental management activities in supply chain operations
  • Provide technical and coordination support for environmental initiatives/projects
  • Monitor progress, assess impact, and report implementation status
  • Investigate pollution, contamination, and other environment-related incidents
  • Report and recommend measures to prevent or mitigate environmental problems
  • Advise on environmental issues arising from assessments, studies, and plans
  • Support missions implementing environmental policy and identifying guidance needs
  • Coordinate annual development of Environmental Action Plans
  • Review policies and provide substantive inputs for environmental considerations
  • Manage environmental activities and coordinate team
  • Promote awareness on environmental issues
  • Provide environmental briefings to stakeholders
  • Mainstream environment into SOPs and other guidance
  • Engage with contractors on environmental responsibilities
  • Design and implement capacity-building tools and training activities
  • Liaise on environmental issues with DOS pillars and divisions
  • Support integration of Environmental Policy for UN Field Missions and DOS Environment Strategy objectives

Experience Requirements

At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the environmental management field with a national government/administration, a large firm or international organization is required. Experience in coordinating environmental management in an interna


Qualification Requirements

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental management, environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental law or related area is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
