Tasks Summary
  • The "Kita am Haydnplatz " is a bilingual (german/french) day care centre situated in the western part of of Karlsruhe. The centre welcomes 61 children in the age of 1-6 years. As bilingual center, there is a particular emphasis on natural language acquisition. The team of German and French-speaking colleagues incorporates both languages into the everyday program. The kita also has a scientific profile. The tasks of the volunteers are: supporting the educators in one group of children in their daily activities - role playing, sport, arts; supporting the kitchen; going with the children on excursions; realizing a personal project with the children if desired, such as handycrafts or games. You will have your own room and share the common areas, experiencing an international community life. The house is located right next to the city and has tram and train stations at walking distance. You will receive approx. 500 € pocket money and food allowance every month. You will also have a card to travel for free in whole Germany with public transports during the entire project. You will learn about both local and international cultures by attending a cycle of intercultural meetings. Besides that, you have the choice to attend a pedadogical course to become youth leader and coordinate summer camps.   • At least 18 years old
  • Interest in educational work and in all its aspects
  • Interest in working with children
  • Some knowledge of English and possibly French, basic skills in German would be helpful but aren’t mandatory
  • having an accredited sending organization
