Overview
The Medical Coordinator oversees all medical aspects of DRC-HDP mine action operations in Gaza and the oPt, ensuring medical staff are trained, equipped, and qualified to support safe clearance activities.
Tasks Summary
- Provide oversight of all medical issues.
- Responsible for the medical training, daily operational planning and implementation.
- Ensure that the teams Paramedic is adequately equipped and trained as by DRC HDP SOP Medical Support in Mine Action.
- Ensure that the Paramedics are able to carry out their duties in a professional manner.
- Ensure that all medical staff is qualified to carry out their duties in support of clearance operations within the definition of qualified personnel.
- Maintain reporting mechanisms and produce proper records and reports on all aspects of medical activities according to the requirements of the DRC HDP SOP Medical Support in Mine Action.
- Conduct regular casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) exercises together with the TA and TFM.
- Provide direction and supervision to DRC HDP personnel with regards to health issues.
- Carry out regular observation visits to the DRC HDP medical teams deployed in support of clearances activities.
- Ensure that the medical DRC HDP SOP Medical Support in Mine Action is always updated and is in accordance with the NMAA.
- Support the OM if investigating accidents/incidents and compile relevant reports.
- Ensure that the DRC HDP sickness data base is updated and the administration staff are updated on a daily basis of staff sickness.
- Monitor that staff sickness and inform the OM and HDP Manager of irregularities.
- Provide the mine action team Paramedics with up to date information on current medical techniques and procedures.
Experience Requirements
- 5 years’ experience as medical doctor in surgery or as a senior nurse (mandatory).
- 3 years working appearance with HMA and other NGOs as paramedics in the field (mandatory).
Qualification Requirements
• Graduated as a medical doctor or nurse .
