Overview

The MEAL Assistant will assist in the effective implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) strategies and global standards. They will support the mainstreaming of MEAL throughout the Project Cycle Management (PCM) and reinforce quality program management.


Tasks Summary
  • Follow data protection protocols and steps.
  • Support capacity building and training for program and sector staff.
  • Follow accountability and ethical standards.
  • Engage in collaborative relationships with internal and DRC partners.
  • Support the MEAL Coordinator in developing MEAL work plans.
  • Ensure field-level data collection tools are reviewed and updated.
  • Coordinate with the MEAL Coordinator to create detailed work plans for MEAL exercises.
  • Hire, train, and supervise enumerators for data collection exercises.
  • Conduct data collection using various monitoring and assessment tools.
  • Ensure data quality throughout the data collection process.
  • Provide feedback to DRC staff on tools and processes.
  • Support data entry, translation, and XLSForm coding.
  • Assist with data cleaning, initial analysis, and updating trackers and databases.
  • Conduct spot checks, field verifications, and data quality audits.
  • Support evaluations, research, or other studies.
  • Ensure beneficiaries are treated with respect, confidentiality, and informed consent.
  • Promote the Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CFM).
  • Contribute to resolving problems and conflicts and respond to minor complaints.
  • Contribute to organizational learning by supporting project learning events.

Experience Requirements
  • Previous data collection experience (quantitative & qualitative).
  • Preferred: Previous experience in the humanitarian sector with a local or international organization.
  • Ability to work confidently with Excel, information management systems, and data.
  • Preferred: Experience in monitoring, reporting, data analysis, and donor reporting or grants management.
  • Willingness to travel and spend more than 50% of the time in the field.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage time and personal work plans effectively.
  • Experience using survey and/or database software and tools.
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly in MS Excel and MS Word.

Languages Required: • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic

Languages Preferred: • French a very strong asset

Contract Duration: 28 February 2027

Remuneration: Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national employees
