Overview
The Protection Officer Case Management is responsible for conducting interviews, assisting individuals with referrals, and reporting on protection concerns. The role involves managing day-to-day caseworker activities and handling complex cases.
Tasks Summary
- Providing direct client services within the case management program.
- Directly managing assigned number of routines and some complex cases.
- Accurately entering data of directly managed cases in Activity Info in a timely manner.
- Handling/managing cases as per DRC standards and SOPs.
- Conducting interviews with individuals and opening cases if vulnerability criteria are met.
- Carrying out comprehensive protection risk assessments for each client.
- Developing a tailored case plan with the client.
- Closing cases when objectives are met.
- Managing cases in an acceptable timeframe according to DRC case Management SOPs.
- Supporting the preparation of procurement and administrative documents.
- Liaising with the protection coordinator/specialist for technical support.
- Coordinating with supervisor on urgent protection or medical cases.
- Assisting in onboarding and delivering inductions/trainings on the case management program.
- Performing regular quality checks on case files.
- Ensuring data entered in Activity Info is error-free and in accordance with SOP guidance.
- Ensuring data protection and confidentiality of information.
- Briefing the protection manager/TL on casework progress and providing reporting figures.
- Respecting confidentiality at all stages of case management.
- Participating in weekly protection team meetings.
- Coordinating at the district and community level with relevant stakeholders.
- Preparing distribution points and further procurement processes.
- Supporting referral focal points and protection teams to ensure updated service mapping.
- Any other tasks.
Experience Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in protection case management with INGOs/NGOs or the UN.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, proven self-initiative and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
- Problem-solver who takes initiative to provide solutions.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting qualitative interviews is a strong advantage.
- Meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
- Experience in managing/ handling data with familiarity with KOBO and other online data collection tools.
- Ability to work independently, make rapid assessments and sound judgements.
- Willing to stay in field locations and travel in all DRC coverage areas.
Qualification Requirements
• Degree from well recognize university, in law, political sciences, research methods, , social work, psychology, and/or other relevant disciplines.
