Overview
The Communications Analyst will support the development and implementation of communications and advocacy strategies and workplans to increase reach, advocacy, and engagement with key partners, beneficiaries, media, and the public to leverage support, commitment, and resources for UNDP in India.
Tasks Summary
- Develop and implement communications and outreach strategies for projects aligned to organizational priorities.
- Integrate advocacy and communication strategies into all aspects of programme planning and reporting.
- Provide strategic direction for projects' communications by designing and implementing communication work plans and guidelines, social media strategy, and media engagement plans.
- Ensure alignment of communication activities with UNDP global and country office priorities.
- Develop social media campaigns and ensure development and dissemination of regular updates on digital and social media platforms.
- Create webpages and project updates for the UNDP India website.
- Explore digital tools and platforms to increase visibility for the project, donors, partners, and UNDP India.
- Draft and finalize newsletters and other multi-touch communications products.
- Identify and synthesize best practices and lessons learned.
- Prepare and produce newsletters for dissemination to key stakeholders.
- Ensure quality assurance for knowledge products and develop dissemination plans.
- Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
- Facilitate knowledge building and management focusing on project's best practices, lessons learned, and stories from the ground.
- Support business development focusing on promoting public information campaigns.
- Ensure increased media coverage, public engagement, and better understanding of UNDP’s work.
- Support donor reporting, civic education, and community awareness.
- Organize roundtable discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews, and launches.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience (Bachelor’s degree) or up to 2 years (Master’s degree) in development communication, journalism, public relations or any closely related field.
- Additional years of relevant experience is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in leading/supporting communications/public relations in the development sector or with international organizations is desired.
- Previous experience in journalism/media is desired.
Qualification Requirements
- Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in journalism or communication or social science or any related field is required.
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
