Overview

Manages and coordinates logistics services to support mission operations and clients, including supply chain, materials management, transportation, maintenance, contracts, communications, IT, engineering, and medical services.


Tasks Summary
  • Exercises managerial and supervisory control over all logistics support required by future, current or liquidating field mission.
  • Develops, prepares, coordinates and monitors overall logistic support plans including logistics forecasting, supply schedules, priorities or requirements, and resolution of urgent operational needs.
  • Monitors and coordinates all multifunctional logistic requirements between UN HQ and field mission.
  • Assists in the development of policy and procedures for logistics support.
  • Acts as the principal liaison between the field missions and Headquarters staff for logistics matters and coordinates day to day support of logistics operations.
  • Ensures overall planning and coordination of logistics support preparations for new field missions and expanded civilian and military field operations.
  • Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
  • Advises senior management on logistics management, structures and staffing levels to ensure that they are at all times adequate to meet the requirements of the logistics strategy.
  • Leads technical survey missions.
  • Organizes and chairs logistics meetings.
  • Manages and supervises an integrated civilian-military mission support organization.
  • Manages and coordinates a multifunctional logistics operation in the field.
  • Chairs or is a member of field mission administrative and financial bodies.
  • Assumes responsibilities of a certifying officer.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in land or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organization, or related areas is required. Experience in handling complex logistical and organizational issues at local and international level in the field mission environment is required. Experience in the United Nations system or a comparable international organization is required. Experience in managing a large multicultural team and multiple clients at country level is desirable.


Qualification Requirements

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, management, engineering, law or related field. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages Required: English and French are required.

Languages Preferred: Spanish is desirable.

Contract Duration: until 30 June 2026
