Overview

This internship position is located in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) within the Division on International Trade and Commodities. The role involves assisting with public information materials, social media, multimedia production, and event organization.


Tasks Summary
  • Assist in drafting and editing content for public information materials, including news stories, newsletter articles, blogs and social media;
  • Assist in producing social media plans and campaigns, as well as explore more potential digital outreach initiatives to raise online visibility and readership of publications and/or events/projects;
  • Produce various multimedia materials for online and offline products, including infographics, motion graphics, short videos, animated clips, presentation templates and event flyers;
  • Contribute to implementing the office's communications strategy, including through social media outreach.
  • Assist in the organization and execution of the launch of publications and events;
  • Assist in identifying key contacts/constituencies and opportunities for strategic partnerships to facilitate and enhance communications efforts.
  • Assist in organizing conferences, seminars, press briefings, interviews and other outreach events, and in preparing briefing materials for senior officials prior to their participation in such events.
  • Initiate and carry out assigned tasks/special projects.

Experience Requirements

No working experience is required for this internship. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.


Qualification Requirements

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme. Should be computer literate in standard software applications.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency oral and written in English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is desirable

Contract Duration: six months

Work Modality: in-person basis and/or remotely

Remuneration: The Internship Programme is unpaid. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
