Overview
Provide technical leadership and direction for an effective, high quality, lifesaving environmental health response. Responsible for all aspects of environmental health programming, including the provision of clean water, safe defecation areas and toilets, and key hygiene products.
Tasks Summary
- Ensure high quality and timely assessments of humanitarian needs and provide prioritized recommendations for program interventions.
- Design program responses and strategy in coordination with internal and external actors.
- Draft technical proposals and budgets for international donors.
- Lead environmental health program implementation including staff recruitment and training, workplan development, procurement and inventory planning, and budget management.
- Prepare high quality and timely donor and management reports on grants and sector activities.
- Select and implement appropriate monitoring systems; ensure consistent reporting and analysis of results.
- Ensure compliance with IRC policy and procedures.
- Represent and coordinate with other agencies, local government, donors, and other partners.
- Support media and communications activities as requested.
- Create an inclusive environment where diversity is valued and prioritize capacity building of team.
- Provide a comprehensive handover to successor.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience in WASH/Environmental Health projects at the coordinator level or above required.
- Effective leading and building programs and/or operations in fast-paced, multifaceted environments.
- Solid track record leading in an emergency environment and/or start-up environment as part of a multinational team.
- Effective people- and program-management skills in acute emergency contexts.
Qualification Requirements
• Degree in engineering, hydrology, environmental health, or equivalent subject; Master’s level education strongly preferred.
