Overview

The Youth Success Specialist Intern will support the IRC Youth Program by assisting in the delivery of academic, social-emotional, and enrichment services for refugee and immigrant youth through mentorships, tutoring, and field trips.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in the facilitation of virtual tutoring and mentoring sessions via Zoom.
  • Support outreach, scheduling, and communication with youth participants and volunteer mentors/tutors.
  • Monitor virtual sessions to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
  • Help develop and share educational resources, activities, and content.
  • Track attendance and assist with basic data entry and documentation for program evaluation.
  • Collaborate to identify and respond to the needs of youth participants.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies regarding youth safety and conduct.
Experience Requirements
  • Prior experience and/or interest working with refugees and immigrants preferred.
  • Prior experience and/or interest in case management, social work or education preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced and global environment.
  • Flexible and reliable, with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualification Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Zoom and Canva).
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable access to a vehicle with current insurance and the ability to travel regularly throughout Baltimore strongly preferred.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English required.

Languages Preferred: Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired.

Contract Duration: 14 total weeks

Work Modality: hybrid

Remuneration: Internships with the IRC in Baltimore are unpaid. University credit may be arranged. Spring 2026 interns are eligible for per diem reimbursement at the rate of $15 per day (defined as 7.5 hours) to offset the costs of food and travel of the internship. Interns may also be reimbursed for mileage driven for any approved activities (based on round-trip mileage from the IRC office).
