Overview

Support the IRC in NY’s financial education program by providing financial coaching and counseling services to program participants, and coordinating monthly financial education workshops.

Tasks Summary

• Provide one-on-one financial coaching and counseling for clients.
• Conduct financial management intakes and surveys for all clients.
• Track client meetings and progress in spreadsheet and through case noting on ETO software.
• Facilitate monthly financial literacy/education workshops for clients.
• Develop database of financial resources for clients.
• Work in conjunction with the Economic Empowerment specialist to develop relationships with financial institutions and organizations providing financial services in NYC.
• Communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
• Collaborate with other IRC in NY programs as necessary.
• Adhere to IRC policies, particularly those related to confidentiality and client privacy.

Experience Requirements

• Prior experience in the field of personal financial management, preferably in a counseling or coaching role.
• Experience in providing coaching or counseling services, preferably in personal financial management.
• Experience working with immigrants or refugees in a social service setting.
• Experience providing instruction to adults a plus.

Languages Required: Must have good written and verbal English language skills

Languages Preferred: Ability to fluently speak at least one of the following languages (Farsi/Dari, Arabic, Spanish, French, Burmese, Mandarin, Russian, Urdu) preferred
