Overview
The Field Security Associate assists in the implementation of security operations and management of safety and security for UN personnel in the Area of Responsibility. The role supports the Chief Security Adviser in collecting and communicating security information and liaising with relevant organizations.
Tasks Summary
- Assists the Chief Security Adviser in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation.
- Liaises and coordinates with host government security organizations and personnel, military, police, and NGOs.
- Helps to assess the security situation and gather/verify security information.
- Communicates security information to UN agency heads and provides security advice.
- Maintains contacts with Security Focal Points of UN agencies.
- May provide technical assistance at Area/Security Management Team meetings.
- Assists in maintaining the Security Plan, including updating staff lists.
- Supports actions during the implementation of the Security Plan.
- Assists with monitoring the implementation of security measures.
- Assists in reporting security incidents and preparing security reports.
- Provides support in organizing and conducting security awareness and preparedness training.
- Conducts security briefings.
- Provides support in conducting security evaluations and advice on Residential Security Measures.
- Establishes and maintains warden system.
- Administers a pass and ID system.
- Maintains liaison with commercial security companies.
- Provides general administrative assistance, including maintaining correspondence files and a database of contact details.
- Arranges appointments, receives visitors, screens telephone calls, and takes minutes.
Experience Requirements
- Seven (7) years of work experience in security, risk or disaster or emergency areas with security responsibilities, in the public or private service areas, such as national security, military or police, or in a corporate environment is required.
- The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft applications i.e. Word, Excel Access and Powerpoint is required.
- Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
• High school Diploma or equivalent is required.
