Overview

Provide technical expertise and guidance for the SMART-Mine inception phase in Zambia, focusing on technology approaches for technical studies and assessments to enhance skills development in the mining sector.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the Market Systems Analysis (MSA) design and data collection process, including reviewing technology nodes and MSA design documentation.
  • Provide technical review of and inputs to reports produced by the MSA consultant(s).
  • Support the design and implementation of a rapid institutional capacity assessment.
  • Support private sector engagement efforts for Public-Private Development Partnership (PPDP) development, including developing a collaboration framework and drafting PPDP concept notes.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in technical, operational, commercial or advisory roles within mining companies, mining contractors, equipment manufacturers or mining service providers.
  • Proven, practical understanding of the Zambian mining sector.
  • Strong and up-to-date knowledge of modern mining technologies and innovations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in technical cooperation projects is an asset.
  • An established professional network within the mining sector and industry associations in Zambia would be a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with skills development challenges in Zambia, or similar African contexts, would be an asset.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in mining engineering, industrial engineering, business administration, economic studies, or a closely relevant discipline is required.
  • Alternatively, a first level university degree or an advanced technical college diploma may be acceptable provided it is combined with additional 5 years of professional hand-on experience that is directly relevant to the expertise required by the specific assignment.
