MHPSS Cultural Mediation Associate (Urdu)

Overview

The role supports the implementation of community mobilization activities and related tasks for international protection applicants. It provides cultural mediation and interpretation to facilitate communication between service providers and migrants.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide cultural mediation and interpretation support.
  • Provide verbal interpretation support to IPAS staff.
  • Assist through interpretation during the collection of routine information and data.
  • Support beneficiaries in contacting service providers.
  • Support the identification of vulnerabilities and refer them.
  • Support IOM partners in community engagement activities.
  • Conduct outreach activities to inform beneficiaries about MHPSS services.
  • Provide interpretation assistance to mental health professionals.
  • Prepare routine documentation and submit basic reports.
Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma with five years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Completion of trainings in cultural mediation for mental health settings would be an asset.
  • Experience in cultural mediation in the framework of migrants’ assistance.
  • Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU Agencies and/or Irish law enforcements or Government’s Departments would be an asset.
Qualification Requirements

• High school diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Social Sciences, International relations or related fields from an accredited academic institution.

Languages Required: • Fluency in English is required (oral and written). • Fluency or mother tongue in Urdu is required

Contract Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension
