Overview
The Protection Officer-GBV is responsible for implementing quality GBV prevention and response activities at field level, ensuring safe, confidential, and survivor-centred GBV case management, psychosocial support, community-based GBV prevention approaches, and effective referral services.
Tasks Summary
- Support protection risk assessment and ongoing risks analysis.
- Engage men, boys, women, and girls to promote positive gender norms and GBV risk mitigation.
- Oversee the daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of GBV- related activities.
- Strengthen prevention and response mechanisms to all forms of abuse.
- Facilitate structured individual and group Psychosocial Support (PSS) sessions.
- Support the operation of Women and Girls’ Safe Spaces (WGSS).
- Support survivors to access medical, psychosocial, legal, and safety services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential GBV case files.
- Identify and manage high-risk and emergency GBV cases.
- Support rapid GBV risk assessments and emergency response activities.
- Facilitate and support awareness-raising activities and advocate for the prevention of GBV.
- Ensure GBV Standard Operating Procedures are in place and followed.
- Contribute to quality and timely reports.
- Ensure all registered GBV cases are timely updated in ProGres V4 and the GBV case tracker.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders.
- Represent DRC and participate in local GBV working groups and protection coordination meetings.
- Ensure close co-ordination in project implementation with partners.
- Liaise with other DRC sectors and ensure the integration of GBV intervention.
- Link with the legal aid sub-sector/Partner.
- Support mapping and updating of GBV services and referral pathways.
- Provide technical and programmatic leadership for GBV case workers and community-based mechanisms.
- Provide technical leadership to GBV case workers in case management.
- Develop performance measurement and targets for case workers and prevention assistants.
- Conduct regular team meetings, case review, and case shadowing.
- Foster a positive, ethical, and safeguarding-compliant working environment.
- Provide technical support to staff members.
- Support the Protection Team Leader to monitor financial commitments and expenditures.
- Proactively plan and coordinate logistics and movements of staff.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in GBV prevention and response programming.
- Demonstrated experience in GBV case management and PSS.
- Experience of working with UN or Non‐Governmental organizations.
- Experience in motorcycle riding.
- Experience working in humanitarian, refugee, or emergency settings (desirable).
Qualification Requirements
• A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Community Psychology.
