Overview

The Program and Finance Assistant supports the effective implementation of UNFPA-Japan funded projects by providing integrated programme, financial, and administrative support. The role ensures accurate financial management, compliance with UNFPA rules and procedures, timely reporting, and smooth coordination between programme and operations teams.

Tasks Summary
  • Supports the monitoring of programme financial performance non-core resources.
  • Supports the preparation and monitoring of programme budgets and ensures financial transactions are in accordance with UNFPA financial rules and procedures.
  • Supports financial reporting of Implementing Partner(s) and clearance of direct payments.
  • Support, routine implementation, and management of the projects in terms of timely delivery of project inputs, HR, logistical, financial, procurement, and administrative inputs, and timely submission of reports.
  • Provide logistical support to projects through coordinating related meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Assists in the management of projects by monitoring expenditure and preparing budget revisions.
  • Maintains an effective financial recording and reporting system, internal control, and audit follow-up.
  • Reviews and monitors charges for common services and cost recovery.
  • Contributes to strengthening UNFPA’s internal and Implementing Partners' capacities to manage funds.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be required by UNFPA leadership.
Experience Requirements
  • Five years of relevant experience in administration, finance, or office management.
  • Proficiency in current office software applications, web-based management, and ERP financial systems.
Qualification Requirements

• A first level university degree in Finance, Business, Public Administration or similar discipline is desirable.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: 12 months (with possibility of extension)

Work Modality: Onsite

Remuneration: The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service. Furthermore, in non-family duty stations that belong to hardship categories D or E, as classified by the ICSC, a Well-Being Differential (WBD) will be provided monthly.
