Overview

The Human Rights Specialist will support OHCHR-EARO's work in capacity building, human rights monitoring, and the provision of technical assistance to various stakeholders.

Tasks Summary

• Contribute to general human rights and development work, including monitoring, reporting, and advocacy.
• Support data management and analysis related to human rights trends.
• Support in providing capacity and technical assistance to government institutions, Civil Society, and human rights defenders on human rights issues.
• Develop and analyze human rights products.
• Help plan and implement training and awareness activities.
• Support stakeholder engagement.
• Support in building new partnerships with national actors.
• Participate in engagements with UN agencies, humanitarian actors, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure a human rights-based approach is used in OHCHR-EARO’s work with partners.

Experience Requirements

At least 3 years of progressive professional work experience in human Rights monitoring, investigation, research, reporting, and coordination. Experience working with civil society organizations, government counterparts, or with an international or regional organization, as well as exposure to other cultures is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

Master's degree in law/Human Rights, Political Sciences, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related field. A first-level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
