Overview
IFC is seeking a Manager for its valuation unit to oversee a team responsible for the second-line fair valuation of IFC’s investments portfolio. The role involves independent assessment of valuations, challenging assumptions, and ensuring consistency across the portfolio.
Tasks Summary
- Lead and manage the valuation team to ensure high performance and commitment to IFC’s strategic goals.
- Nurture a collaborative, high-performance environment, coaching team members and promoting professional development.
- Collaborate across functions, particularly with CIREQ, central portfolio management, investment teams, risk specialists, and IT partners.
- Lead the delivery of quarterly valuations for the IFC investment portfolio and prepare quarterly presentations for approval committees.
- Ensure compliance with the valuations governance framework.
- Independently assess equity and debt valuations prepared by investments portfolio managers, challenge assumptions, and ensure final valuations present IFC’s best estimate.
- Ensure valuation assumptions and methodologies are consistent across the portfolio.
- Ensure material impacts to equity and debt investments are promptly and accurately reflected in IFC’s valuations.
- Develop valuation frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of training materials, lessons learned, case studies, and other knowledge management materials relating to valuations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with IFC’s first-line valuation function and portfolio managers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with corresponding functions in IFIs to share knowledge and best practices.
- Contribute to the Investment and Credit Risk Department leadership team.
- Mentor and develop valuation staff.
- Provide administrative and HR Management oversight.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in emerging markets equity and debt valuation.
- Proven experience in operating under pressure, including managing relationships with external auditors.
- Strong financial skills with deep expertise for handling complex debt and equity valuations.
- Established experience managing a second-line valuation function, requiring building and managing solid relationships with first-line functions while balancing the challenge function of the team.
- Proven experience in managing and developing teams.
Qualification Requirements
• Master's degree in business, finance or equivalent qualification.
