Overview

Provide technical expertise, facilitate consultations, and draft gender-responsive policy inputs to integrate human mobility considerations into North Macedonia's National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes.

Tasks Summary
  • Share and contextualize the UNFCCC Technical Guide on Integrating Human Mobility and Climate Change Linkages.
  • Communicate the Technical Guide and related knowledge products in an accessible, practical, and gender-sensitive manner.
  • Participate in technical meetings with government representatives and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare background notes and reports for meetings with recommendations on mobility integration.
  • Provide policy advice to national institutions on human mobility developments in the UNFCCC process.
  • Draft gender-sensitive written inputs and technical comments to draft NAP-related documents.
  • Coordinate closely with IOM Office in Skopje and IOM’s Regional Office in Vienna.
  • Prepare short progress updates and a final consultancy report.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum five years of experience in climate change adaptation, migration, or related policy fields.
  • Proven experience in technical advisory roles, policy drafting, and multi-stakeholder consultations.
  • Familiarity with UNFCCC processes, particularly relating to adaptation and human mobility.
  • Previous experience working in North Macedonia or the Western Balkans is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate gender-sensitive approaches into climate or migration programming.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental and international organizations.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree in environmental policy, climate change, migration studies, international development, or a related field.
  • Bachelors or Equivalent

Languages Required: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
