Overview

The Director (Total Fund Strategies) assists the Chief Investment Officer in directing the work programme of Investments within the Office of Investment Management, responsible for managing the investment portfolios of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund.

Tasks Summary
  • Contributes to the work programme of the Office of Investment Management by supporting the CIO in implementing investment policies and strategies, overseeing teams, establishing tactical asset allocation strategies, recommending investment policy and strategy, exploring new assets and investment approaches, monitoring external manager selection and performance, and supporting staff training and development.
  • Assists the Representative of the Secretary-General and CIO in reporting to various committees on investment performance, portfolio structure, policies, strategies, economic and market conditions, and financing requirements.
  • Supports the RSG and CIO in negotiating contracts with investment advisors and external managers and overseeing their performance.
  • Represents the Office of Investment Management in internal and external fora.
  • Performs other duties as required, including participating in OIM wide projects and overseeing the Private Markets portfolio.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 15 years of proven progressively responsible and practical experience in the investment management of asset allocation strategies is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in long-term oriented institutional investment management organizations utilizing fundamental and quantitative analysis for managing assets of large-sized asset owners (USD 10 billion or more).
  • At least 5 years of experience in portfolio management leadership roles with a proven track record is required.
  • At least 10 years of in-house management of portfolio management, including asset allocation strategies, is required.
  • Experience in establishing asset allocation strategies through the Total Portfolio Approach is desirable.
  • At least 5 years in conducting due diligence for selecting external management advisors and monitoring those managers is desirable.
  • Experience in rule-based quantitative asset allocation strategies and portfolio management is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent degree) in Business Admin. (MBA), Finance, Economics or related field is required.
  • A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification is desirable.
