Overview

Internship positions within the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) focusing on trade in services, offering exposure to research, data analysis, and intergovernmental meetings.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in drafting inputs into research papers and other reports on trade in services.
  • Assist in drafting technical background documents and policy-oriented papers on trade in services, servicification, diversification.
  • Assist in building datasets and analyze data with statistical tools such as Excel, STATA or R.
  • Assist in undertaking descriptive analysis and produce graphs/tables to visualize data.
  • Assist in drafting and preparing official documents, statements, presentations.
  • Assist in preparing intergovernmental meetings, side events and implementing technical assistance projects.
  • Attend and summarize online and/or Geneva-based in-person conferences and meetings.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • University degree must be in the area of economics, development, law, political science or other social sciences deemed appropriate.
  • University degree must be in the area of economics, statistics, political science, development, trade law or a related area.
  • Should be computer literate in standard software applications.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency oral and written in English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Contract Duration: six months

Work Modality: In-person and/or Remotely

Remuneration: The internship Programme is unpaid and full-time, i.e., an intern is expected to work five days per week (40 hours). All costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses must be covered by the intern.
