Overview

Support programmatic work on climate resilience and innovation in ESAR country offices. The role focuses on mobilizing climate finance, research, advocacy, and project delivery.

Tasks Summary
  • Support ESAR country offices in developing a pipeline of proposals to mobilize climate finance.
  • Support research, advocacy and evidence building work on climate change and environment.
  • Support development of a strategy on youth, peace and climate security.
  • Support delivery of two UNFPA ongoing regional climate change and innovation projects.
  • Support the coordination of the region's innovation focal point programme.
  • Support the Innovation Specialist in providing technical assistance to country offices on innovation mainstreaming and climate change conscious programming.
  • Support the development of at least three funding proposals for innovation programmes.
  • Identify at least one innovation project for scalable support.
Experience Requirements
  • 2 years of professional experience in climate change, environment-related and innovation.
  • Knowledge of policy development processes and the ability to analyze the impact of policies on different populations.
  • Experience working on climate change, environment-related and innovation campaigns.
  • Experience working on youth leadership and climate change.
  • Experience working with the United Nations System is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) deep understanding of climate and environmental space.
  • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture would be highly regarded.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Gender, Demography, Environmental/Climate Science, Innovation, Sustainability, Public Health, International Development, or other related fields.
  • Master's degree in any of the fields will also be considered.

Contract Duration: 6 months
