Overview

Support the collection, analysis, and visualization of data for advocacy and reporting. Conduct research on political developments and donor funding trends in development cooperation.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the systematic collection, analysis, and visualization of internal UNDP data and external donor data, for advocacy, briefing, and reporting purposes.
  • Support analytical, advocacy, and coordination work underpinning UNDP’s partnerships with Germany and Austria, including analytical and desk-based research on political developments and trends in development cooperation and donor funding, with focus on Germany and Austria
  • Support the preparation of evidence-based advocacy materials, briefing notes, and presentations
  • Support the preparation, coordination, and follow-up of official missions and senior-level engagements in Germany and Austria
  • Provide general administrative and organizational support to the Office, as required
Experience Requirements
  • Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme, however, they are expected to have the following skills:
  • Research skills and the ability to speak and write fluently in German; a video interview in German will be conducted for shortlisted candidates.
  • Practical experience or demonstrated aptitude in data collection, data analysis, and data management, including working with qualitative and quantitative information.
  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and to support analytical and coordination tasks in a small team.
  • Strong interest in international affairs, development cooperation, and partnerships, including the role of data and evidence in advocacy and policy dialogue.
Qualification Requirements
  • Applicants to UNDP internships must at the time of application meet one of the following academic requirements:
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation. A Certification must be obtained from school regarding status of enrollment or graduation. Must have work authorization permit.

Languages Required: Fluency in written and spoken English and German is required.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: As of 1 January 2020, Interns may be given a stipend according to UNDP Internship Policy, if it is not financially supported by any institution or programme, such as a university, government foundation or scholarship programme. A stipend will be paid to help cover basic daily expenses related to the internship, such as meals and transportation at the duty station. The stipend will be paid on a monthly basis and part-time internship arrangements are prorated accordingly.
