Overview
The Health Project Officer-SSHF role focuses on leading the implementation of Primary Health Care and nutrition services, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring effective project management and reporting.
Tasks Summary
- Engage with NGOs and UN organizations for resource leverage.
- Participate in project reviews with SMoH and CHD.
- Coordinate with other sectors, departments, and projects for an integrated approach.
- Manage relationships with county authorities.
- Attend county-level government and humanitarian coordination meetings.
- Provide leadership in implementing Primary Health Care and nutrition services.
- Improve Maternal and Child Health indicators and EPI coverage.
- Ensure health facilities conduct EPI outreaches.
- Ensure use of SMOH data collection and reporting tools.
- Conduct supervisory visits to health and nutrition facilities.
- Order supplies from WHO/UNFPA.
- Respond to ad hoc project and donor requests.
- Support CHD staff and build capacity of health workers.
- Carry out additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
- Write weekly reports.
- Report incidences affecting service delivery within 24 hours.
- Ensure reporting tools are available at sites.
- Provide monthly, narrative, ITT, NIS reports.
- Provide health supplies stock reports.
- Provide monthly and quarterly reports including success stories.
- Monitor project assets.
- Support routine assessments and monitor health and nutrition trends.
- Conduct quarterly joint support supervision with CHD.
- Conduct quarterly QOC assessments at HFs.
- Directly manage health and nutrition facilities staff.
- Support CHD in staff recruitment.
- Ensure HF staff files are kept and updated.
- Ensure health and nutrition facility staff have JDs.
- Develop staff development and leave plans.
- Ensure staff adhere to WV policies.
- Provide on-the-job coaching and mentorship.
- Work with CHD to prepare payrolls.
- Work with project staff to request and settle advances.
- Liaise with finance for timely payment of project activities.
- Conduct monthly Budget versus Actual Expenditure.
Experience Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience.
- At least 2 years in emergency response.
- Prior experience in project design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of health and nutrition projects.
- Prior working experience in managing emergency health and nutrition projects, preferably, SSHF.
- Experience supervising health and community nutrition workers and volunteers.
- Basic experience in procurement and supply, and management of pharmaceuticals.
- Work experience demonstrating understanding of South Sudan’s BPHN and BHI.
- Strong working understanding of community health and nutrition interventions (CMAM, MIYCN).
- Demonstrated application of Do No Harm, including understanding of intended and unintended consequences of gender equality and social inclusion interventions, and risk mitigation approaches.
- Excellent work experience in training facilitation and mentoring.
Qualification Requirements
• A degree in Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition or related field.
