Overview
This role supports the overall project execution and ensures the smooth delivery of project components, including grant delivery, team coordination, stakeholder communication, and implementation of project activities in the eastern part of the DRC.
Tasks Summary
- Assist the UNOPS Project Manager in overall planning, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation of project activities.
- Coordinate construction site operations, including supervision of grantees and adherence to UNOPS requirements.
- Follow up and implement grant activities with partners.
- Serve as the focal point for technical coordination with government entities, local authorities, youth organizations, and other UN agencies.
- Participate in technical working groups, community forums, and coordination meetings.
- Develop and apply effective frameworks for measuring reintegration and project impact.
- Analyze relevant policy documents to align initiatives with national and local policies.
- Conduct stakeholder mapping and power dynamics analysis.
- Facilitate community consultations.
- Assist in establishing mechanisms for inclusive dialogue and participation.
- Assist in preparing work plans, procurement plans, and progress reports.
- Monitor and track implementation schedules, risk mitigation plans, and field-level activities.
- Collect and review monitoring data to assess project performance.
- Follow up with third-party independent monitoring.
- Monitor project compliance with UNOPS and donor policies and guidelines.
- Ensure risk mitigation measures are implemented and grievances are addressed.
- Supervise national and international technical teams.
- Support recruitment, induction, and performance management of project staff.
- Promote a collaborative working environment.
Experience Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in DDR and stabilization development contexts.
- Professional experience in post-conflict project management.
- Professional experience in sensitization focused on voluntary repatriation.
- Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa is desired.
- Demonstrated experience working with ex-combatants, especially in the east of the DRC, is highly desirable.
Qualification Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Project Management, Political science, Community Development, Social Sciences, Development, Human rights, International relations, or a related field.
- A Bachelor’s degree with an additional two years of relevant experience may be accepted instead of the advanced degree.
- A globally or nationally recognized professional certificate in PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent certification is desired.
