The Senior Human Rights Officer will coordinate and oversee the preparation of institutional reports, formulate strategic priorities, and advise on human rights matters. The role involves representing the Institution in high-level meetings and negotiating human rights elements of peace accords.
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area is required. Experience supporting senior leadership in coordinating reporting on the implementation of newly established humanitarian or human rights mandates to intergovernmental bodies is required. Experience coordinating engagement with Member States and international partners, including preparation of briefings and representation in high-level meetings, is required. Experience providing legal and policy outputs in support of an institutional mandate related to missing persons is required. Experience monitoring implementation of institutional priorities and workplans across multiple units or sections is desirable.
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Languages Required: English and French are required.
Languages Preferred: Arabic is desirable.
