Overview

Conduct Mid-term Reviews for GEF 10844 and GEF 10845 projects to assess progress, identify challenges, and recommend corrective actions.

Tasks Summary

• Conduct desk reviews of project documentation.
• Prepare key instruments for data collection.
• Conduct interviews with stakeholders.
• Provide a geo-referenced map and photographs of key intervention sites.
• Draft and revise MTR reports.
• Submit final MTR reports.
• Liaise with UNEP GEF C&GCU Unit teams.
• Arrange interpretation/translation services as needed.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of technical/evaluation experience in projects and programmatic approaches is required.
• Experience evaluating UNEP and/or GEF projects is desirable.
• Experience evaluating ASGM and mercury projects is desirable.
• Good/broad understanding of mercury, pollutants management is desirable.
• Working knowledge of the UN system and specifically the work of UNEP is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

• An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in environmental sciences, international development, chemical and waste, or other relevant political or social science areas is required.
• A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Languages Required: Fluency in oral and written English and French is a requirement.
