Overview

The National Project Officer will be responsible for the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of a project aimed at providing reintegration assistance to migrants through community-based initiatives and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in the coordination and monitoring of operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the project.
  • Keep supervisor informed of project status, identify gaps, and suggest improvements.
  • Participate in the development of work plans, project budgets, M&E tools, and SOPs.
  • Contribute to building synergies with other IOM Units.
  • Provide support to local authorities and committees in applying participatory planning methodologies.
  • Support the formation or strengthening of community/local project management committees.
  • Coordinate data collection, verification, and analysis.
  • Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities, and government counterparts.
  • Coordinate timely preparation and dissemination of project reports.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, organization, and delivery of capacity-building activities.
  • Contribute to capacity gap assessments and support capacity-building of community structures.
  • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, working groups, and interagency coordination meetings.
  • Participate in the preparation of project proposals and communication products.
  • Supervise and provide training and technical guidance to project staff.
  • Undertake duty travel relating to project implementation, monitoring, assessments, and liaison.
Experience Requirements
  • Experience working and liaising with various stakeholders, including government authorities, UN agencies, donors, NGOs, community-based organizations, and the private sector.
  • Experience in designing and implementing community-based reintegration projects/initiatives and social cohesion.
  • Demonstrated experience in project development, implementation, management, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation, especially in migration and return/reintegration, community-based development, social cohesion, and climate/disaster-related displacement and migration.
  • Experience in assessment, review, and development of guidelines, policies, SOPs, and capacity-building activities.
  • Experience in partnership development or stakeholder engagement, including organizing consultations, workshops, seminars, and delivering training.
  • Understanding of internal and international migration issues in the country and knowledge of migration-related subjects.
  • Experience in undertaking regular travel in project intervention areas.
Qualification Requirements
  • Master’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in the above-mentioned fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of any two local languages and French is an advantage.

Contract Duration: • Special Short Term Graded (Up to 9 months) • Initial Contract Duration 6 months
