Overview

The Senior Programme Manager will support the UN Migration Network Secretariat in implementing the EU-UN Migration Capacity Building Programme, fostering UN-system wide support for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM).

Tasks Summary
  • Develop, implement, monitor and assess operational and administrative activities of the EU-UN Migration Capacity Building Programme.
  • Direct all governance aspects of the Programme, including project teams in countries.
  • Support coordination and deliver guidance to core working groups involved in project design and implementation.
  • Support and advise country and regional Networks, including policy and programming support to governments.
  • Ensure national and regional Networks’ inputs into capacity building activities.
  • Mentor, develop capacity, train and advise project staff in countries.
  • Provide technical advice and backstopping to local project teams.
  • Prepare and submit all project reports according to IOM and donor formats.
  • Organize Project Steering Committee meetings.
  • Plan and organize all aspects of programme development.
  • Monitor and assess policies, international standards and best practices relating to GCM implementation.
  • Coordinate, organize and represent the Network secretariat in meetings, workshops and seminars.
  • Undertake duty travel and advise project staff, donors, local authorities and other project partners.
Experience Requirements
  • Seven years of professional work experience in international development, migration governance, and displacement.
  • Demonstrated experience in inter-agency coordination and fostering collaborative approaches.
  • Background, familiarity, or experience in public policy making, political advocacy and intergovernmental decision-making.
  • Good knowledge of EU migration policies, both internal and external dimensions.
  • Demonstrated experience in migration policy.
Qualification Requirements
  • Master’s degree in International Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension
