Overview

This role provides expert oversight for the implementation of innovative AI technologies within UNRWA’s digital initiatives, directing the Digital Archives project and offering strategic counsel to development activities.

Tasks Summary
  • Lead the end‑to‑end product lifecycle, from discovery and roadmap planning to delivery and iteration.
  • Oversee development of mobile and web applications built with React Native (front-end) and Python/Django (middleware) and Dynamics365 (Backend).
  • Guide the design and implementation of scalable RESTful APIs and integrations, including Dynamics 365 and third‑party services.
  • Ensure product quality, security, performance, and alignment with business goals.
  • Provide technical direction, review deliverables, and mentor cross‑functional development teams.
  • Troubleshoot product issues, prioritize backlog items, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare product documentation, release notes, and stakeholder communications.
  • Deliver regular progress updates and lead agile ceremonies across teams.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data science, software development, AI development or technical roles.
  • Proven experience in using LLMs, Azure Foundry or similar platforms
  • Hands-on experience managing, training, finetuning, enhancing AI and integration using the right LLM models
  • Hands-on experience building AI Agents, automations and familiarity with AI workflow tools such as n8n
  • Solid understanding of Azure and AI costs awareness
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor development teams, ensuring alignment with product goals and technical standards.
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership to shape AI strategy and roadmap.
  • Solid experience in deploying and monitoring AI systems and ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of AI security, Risk Management, Governance and ethics.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualification Requirements

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Computer Science, software engineering, Data science, AI or other related discipline. A relevant first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages Required: fluency in English is required

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage

Contract Duration: up to 12 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: monthly remuneration that is equivalent to P3 Step 1 amounting to $7,924.25 for every fully completed month
