Overview

This internship focuses on supporting UN-Habitat's Capacity Development Section in areas of urban research, project management, and academic partnerships to promote sustainable urban development.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the planning and execution of World Urban Forum Academy events.
  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of capacity development projects.
  • Support the development, distribution, and analysis of surveys on capacity development needs and university partnerships.
  • Conduct literature reviews, data collection, and qualitative/quantitative analysis for research.
  • Synthesize research findings to inform capacity development support.
  • Draft and edit technical papers, reports, background documents, and concept notes.
  • Support facilitation of work with university and academia networks.
  • Prepare presentations and briefing materials.
  • Provide support in developing, tracking, and reporting on project activities.
  • Assist in communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the organization of project documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with team members on other assignments.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), OR
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), OR
  • Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Preferred areas of study: Currently pursuing or hold a Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Education, Social Sciences, Geography, Public Administration, Business Administration, International Development, or similar relevant topic.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in oral and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: Hybrid

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
